The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2007
will witness people from all walks of life
who will run. But there will be some who will
run to make a difference to someone's life.
Running a marathon can be a very challenging
experience, but when you run for a cause,
the experience is special. For the marathon
runners from the Aditya Birla Group, the experience
will no doubt be special.
This
year the team has doubled in number to 60
enthusiasts who are raring to go. The two
key objectives for these torchbearers of
the Aditya Birla Group are running for a
cause to raise funds for the Cancer Patients
Aid Association (CPAA) and engaging in voluntary
work with CPAA.
Last
year, the Corporate Challenge Team put together
by the Aditya Birla Group for the Mumbai
Marathon passionately trained every evening
for a month. A qualified coach conducted
fitness training camps for the "probables".
The training paid off as the Group's participants
ran and lapped the 7 kilometers within an
hour. Apart from conquering the physical
challenge, our Corporate Challenge Team
raised funds, which were donated to Akanksha
Foundation, an NGO working with slum children
of Mumbai and Pune.
Clearly,
the spirit of a marathon runner can be quite
infectious. If you have a cause which you
are willing to put your heart in, then your
countdown has just begun. Best wishes to
our marathoners!
