The Aditya Birla Group has chalked out an ambitious plan for acrylic fibre and rayon fibre, intended to catapult it into one of the top three companies in the global fibre market. The Group is increasing the production of Thai Acrylic Fibre, located in Thailand. Over a three-year period, its production capacity will be increased from its present 57,000 tonnes to one lakh tonne. The targeted increase in turnover from synthetic fibre is around 1.8 times the current turnover which is around Rs. 3,500 crore. In fact, after the first expansion is completed, the Group will consider further raising the capacity to two lakh tonnes. The Group will also increase its rayon fibre capacity substantially.

The Group's Thai operations not only plans to be large in terms of production but would also emphasize the production of new varieties of fibre.

The companies under the Aditya Birla Group include Thai Acrylic Fibre Company Ltd., Indo Thai Synthetics Company Ltd., Century Textile Company and Thai Carbon Black operating out of Bangkok
