Corporate Information Technology works closely with businesses, corporate functions and business IT heads, providing strategic technological direction to the Group's IT initiatives.

It is responsible for formulating and administering the IT policy covering information security, the business continuity plan, information systems audit, standardisation of technologies / platforms and other major IT investments.

The function is setting up a SAP competence centre for supporting businesses. This will get extended to Oracle, Peoplesoft and Hyperion Technologies. One of the key initiatives is the rollout of the Human Resource solution globally — 'Poornata' using PeopleSoft ERP.

The IT Function also provides infrastructure for facilitating mail and messaging, e-commerce and the Group's knowledge management portal — Aditya Disha, and other e-learning initiatives through the Aditya Birla Information Highway.A shared Data Centre facility provides high availability services to SAP users based in India and overseas.

The IT Function is instrumental in developing strategic relationships with major IT vendors.
