Corporate Technology Strategy and Services (CTSS) provides innovative technical solutions and evaluation for strategic needs of the Group's businesses. It is responsible for developing growth opportunities and identifying new product and application opportunities. It helps upgrade the technical competencies of the businesses for cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity increase, and sharing best technology practices across the Group.

Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company Ltd.

Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company Limited is the corporate research and development centre for the Group. This centre has laboratories for research on metals, fibres, carbon black, cement, minerals and its beneficiation, and chemicals. There are similar facilities for carrying out research on process innovation and development based on the state-of-the-art modelling and simulation technology platform along with high performance computing systems. There is a well integrated analytical science and technology facility and pilot plant for scale up studies.

The centre also hosts a Knowledge Centre that provides access to information and supports intellectual property management. The current areas of scientific competency include fibre science and textiles; material science and engineering; chemical sciences; advanced process engineering; advanced design engineering; advanced process control and automation. The centre has been recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India as a commercial research and development company. The facility is located at Taloja, near Mumbai in Maharashtra.

The Corporate Technical and Energy Services (CTES) provides services across the Group for technical problem solving and cost reduction by means of energy conservation, waste heat recovery, optimisation of manpower and material handling systems, improved operational and maintenance practices, water conservation, electrical systems, etc. It also provides support services for heat transfer enhancement, thermography and trouble-shooting for plant equipment. CTES is ISO 9001:2000 certified, has BEE qualified auditors and is a Government of Gujarat approved energy auditor. In addition, CTES also caters to the Group's expanding captive power plants. The purpose is to analyse, monitor, benchmark and share information on captive power plants' performance, with an overall objective to increase their efficiency, increase the reliability and availability, and be a technical resource centre for them.
