Corporate
Technology Strategy and Services (CTSS)
provides innovative technical solutions
for strategic needs of the Group's businesses.
It is responsible for developing growth
opportunities through research in new processes,
products and applications. It brings in
computer simulations tools and advanced
process control software for the Group's
manufacturing processes. It helps upgrade
the technical competence of the businesses
for cost reduction, quality improvement,
capacity increase and sharing best technology
practices across the Group. It does technical
evaluations on major investment proposals,
including acquisitions.
The
recently formed company, Aditya Birla Science
and Technology Company Ltd. (ABSTCL) caters
to the research and development needs of
the Group, by providing laboratory facilities,
modelling and simulation areas. The first
such facility is located at Taloja, near
Mumbai.
Its
Central Technical Centre (CTC) provides
services across the Group for cost reduction
by energy conservation, waste heat recovery,
optimisation of manpower and material handling
systems, improved operational and maintenance
practices. CTC provides support services
for pollution control measures and trouble-shooting
for plant equipment, has National BEE qualified
auditors and is a Gujarat government approved
energy auditor.
The
recently formed Captive Power Centre (CPP)
will cater to the Group's expanding captive
power plants. Its purpose is to analyse,
monitor, benchmark and share information
on CPP performance, with an overall objective
to increase efficiency of Groups CPPs,
increase CPP reliability and availability
and be a technical resource centre to the
Groups CPP.
