HERricane Episode: Pallavi Munot

In this episode of HERricane, explore Pallavi’s journey as she pushes the boundaries of innovation. With automation at her fingertips, she streamlines processes, enhances productivity, and drives the future of technology.

She doesn’t just engineer solutions, she powers progress.

0:00 – Introduction

I am Pallavi Munot and I power the next era of manufacturing.

0:17 – Remote Challenges

So once I was placed in Aditya Birla Group, I knew that these things I have to take up. There would be challenges, probably going to a remote location. And there would be challenges where your language would be the barrier. Since I moved to Odisha, the main constraint for me was the language.
So these systems or these things I knew there would be, but family was a great support when it came up that I would be placed in Odisha, that is at La Panga, a remote location in Odisha.
So we felt that the distance is far apart and I had never been away from the family, but it was keen that being an engineer and I chose to be in manufacturing. So I knew these challenges would come up, but I accepted those very well at that age at that time and once those challenges came up, I did find out somehow another way to curb these challenges.

1:15 – Female Plant

So this plant, first of all, came up with an idea that we have to be a female-oriented plant. Women colleagues should be much more into the plant, and this was, I think, a superb idea because till now we have seen the plants have been driven by male, and this is the first of its kind where women employees are leading a plant. There are so many women working at the stations. Each station here is being operated by a female, a women colleague, and to support these women there are different women. It never happened that this particular work or job would be taken by male colleagues and this would be taken up by female colleagues.

1:57 – Supportive Environment

So once I was placed there, I guess within a time span they placed me on the shop floor and it was a wholehearted welcome.
They provided me whatever trainings were required; there were mentors who kept supporting me for whatever the challenges or whatever the new extra things that I had to take up.
So there was always an open hand or open platform to me, and I think overall at Aditya Birla we have that because here also a unit has been led by a woman, and that's why we are the force for good.

2:31 – Plant Built

The day I was moved down from Odisha to Pune plant, the technology was new. We had to build up the project without the OEM support, but management kept trust in us and we built a system and we built a complete plant without the OEM support, and we are running full-fledged. So for me, this is one of the biggest achievements that I've taken up.
