Grasim Nagda unit organises chlorine handling awareness session

The event sees a valuable exchange of ideas for safe handling of chlorine
Grasim Industries Limited (Chemical Division), Nagda unit at Indore conducted an awareness session on 20 April 2015 on the safe handling of chlorine for its consumers. The event was organised to better equip consumers to handle any exigencies during chlorine handling.
Mr. D. K. Shukla, Unit Head &; President, inaugurated the session in the presence of Mr. M. K. Jhala, Dy. Chief Controller of Explosives (Bhopal). Mr. Shukla in his opening address spoke about the various safeguards undertaken by the unit prior to dispatching tonners to the customers. He urged to the customers for their support during unloading, usage and return of the empty tonners to the units to ensure safe transport of the tonners and to avoid any mishap.
Mr. Jhala threw light on the various regulatory aspects of handling chlorine prior to obtaining chlorine tonners from manufacturers. He said that users need to be precise with respect to the safe use of tonners and also asked them to be emergency ready at all times.
Mr. S. V. Rajwade, Superintendent Engineer of Narmada Project Circle, Indore, explained the process of handling chlorine tonner. Mr. V. K. Awasthi, Dy General Manager-Prod, emphasised on the various safety aspects of handling chlorine.
Mr. D. K. Chaubey, Assistant General Manager-Safety spoke about the various aspects of personal protection to be taken while handling chlorine. A Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) stall was also installed at the event. Posters featuring the various dos and don''ts, while handling chlorine, were unveiled at the event.
The correct usage of chlorine kits and how to handle any leakage from the tonner body was explained by the Nagda unit team.
The event was a huge success with enthusiastic participation from the customers.
