One of the biggest lessons I have learned is not to judge others based on the stories that you don't understand. I myself have done that. I’ve judged my mother for giving up on her hobbies. When I was just a kid, I’ve judged my sisters on their parenting skills when I never had a child. I’ve judged leaders for being too harsh when I was just a novice. Today, having seen a lot of these phases in my own life, I empathize more with them. With that comes an understanding of what should I do to not go that path or how to correct my mistakes based on experiences that others have had.

Like they say, behind every successful man is a woman, but behind every successful woman, it’s an entire village of people who support her and empower her. For me, definitely, it’s my husband and my family who have always been by my side, without whom I couldn’t have done this.

One of my weaker moments, I once asked my then 8-year-old daughter, do you think mommy should be at home because a lot of her friends have stay-at-home mothers? And of course, a child would want that, but she said no, then how would I brag about what you’re doing? I think that just showed me how what I do makes an impact in their life.

I think women are often misunderstood. Something that can seem chaotic can also bring about change and betterment. Being a hurricane is bringing about transformation. It’s not just about destruction, but it’s about breaking barriers and forging new paths. That is what a hurricane means to me.

One barrier that I’m trying to break in our industry is that lawyers can adopt technology. Lawyers can navigate through the digital landscape today to give advice based on technological developments. Aditya Birla is letting me do that, and the work I’m doing here is allowing me to break that barrier.
