Biker Girl Becomes Messiah for Bengaluru’s Poor

Bengaluru Biker Who’s on a Mission to Transform Lives

Bengaluru-based engineer, Vishwala C Patel, is transforming the lives of the poor and needy, one bike ride at a time. Seven years ago, Vishwala was on her way to college when she saw people sleeping on the streets without blankets. When she and her friends distributed blankets to them the next day, little did they realise their single act of kindness towards street-dwellers would grow into a mission to uplift communities in and around Bengaluru.

At that moment, we realised what an impact we had created when they wholeheartedly blessed us. The smile with which they sent us off is something that I still carry with me till date,” says Vishwala.

The incident led Vishwala to found the Kavach Trust along with friends and volunteers. Over the last seven years, the 27-year-old engineer has been riding the streets of Bengaluru and its surrounding villages on her motorcycle, lending a helping hand to those in need.

Vishwala and her team have provided food to the hungry, distributed umbrellas to street vendors, organised blood donation drives for thalassemia patients, mentored kids and even helped repair schools – one ride at a time. In the process, they have transformed countless lives.

We have expanded to over 170 volunteers, who are ready to face the world and make an impact one step at a time,” says the young changemaker.

Undoubtedly, funding has been a struggle. Vishwala has also had to juggle her impact work while holding a full-time job as an engineer. But she has never been one to give up. She continues to expand the Trust’s work.

She says, "Donate your time to social work. There are people around you in need, and your time can change their lives."
