BreakTheBias: Women of mettle

08 March, 2022

The film is dedicated to the women employees of the Aditya Birla Group who have defied stereotypes and unsolicited advice to achieve success in their chosen fields

The American poet and activist Maya Angelou once said: "A wise woman wishes to be no one's enemy; a wise woman refuses to be anyone's victim". For eons, telling women what to do was normalised by society. Now, a video created by the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) urges viewers to #BreakTheBias and stop imposing curbs on women's choices and freedoms.

The video, featuring six women achievers working at Aditya Birla, is an incisive take on how society sees women through a gendered lens. Like many others, these women have overcome all kinds of stereotypes and well-meaning, but unsolicited, advice: from how they should sit, speak, or laugh in the company of others; to the careers they choose; or how they balance their work and personal lives. And having exercised their choices, they have emerged as proud and successful members of the ABG family, like countless other women employees of the group.

As an equal opportunity employer, ABG is committed to enabling every employee, regardless of gender, background, or beliefs, to achieve their full potential. And the #BreakTheBias video is an example of how ABG stands by the right of women to chart their own destinies at work and home.
