From forest to furnishing: The story of Liva Home
- Copy
With a focus on natural materials and end-to-end transparency, Liva Home by Birla Cellulose echoes Aditya Birla Group’s broader commitment to being a Force for Good, right down to the fabric of our living spaces. Can home linen be both luxurious and environment friendly?
To answer this question, Birla Cellulose launched Liva Home in December 2018. An extension of the Liva fibre brand popular in the fashion segment, Liva Home brings the same fibre technology to home textiles, offering products that combine softness, performance, and sustainability.
The idea behind Liva Home was simple: to use the Group’s strength in fibre innovation to create home textile products that are both high-quality and responsibly made. The result is a wide range of planet friendly textiles for everyday living, designed to do more than just feel good and look good.
Thoughtful living, everyday
The Liva Home portfolio includes bed linen, furnishings, floor coverings, bath linen, and kitchen textiles. Each category reflects the natural properties of Birla Cellulose fibre, which is plant-based, skin-friendly, breathable, and designed for long-term use.
Bed Linen: Liva Home’s bed sheets, comforters and duvets are known for their soft texture and smooth finish. The fibre’s natural breathability ensures that the fabric stays cool in summer and warm in winter. Designs range from subtle florals to structured geometrics, catering to a variety of aesthetic preferences.
Furnishings: In upholstery and drapery, Liva Home fabrics offer vibrant colours, good drape, and long-lasting shades. Many products are made using Birla Cellulose-based chenille yarns, including variants like Slubs and Spunshades, which add texture and richness to the material.
Floor Coverings: Carpets and durries (Dhurries)made with Birla Cellulose fibre are soft to the touch and have a silk-like sheen. They are available in a variety of bright colours and ornate patterns, and are designed to bring warmth and a finished look to living spaces.
Bath Linen: Liva Home’s towels and bath products are made using fibres known for their high absorbency and soft, lightweight feel. The fabric retains its softness even after multiple washes, making it suitable for daily use.
Kitchen Linen: Kitchen and dining linen products combine bright shades with easy maintenance. The natural structure of the fibre ensures that colours remain intact over time, and the texture stays smooth and comfortable even after repeated use.
Woven with responsibility
What sets Liva Home apart isn't just how the products feel—it’s the way it’s made.
At its heart is the cellulosic fibre, derived from wood pulp and produced through processes that place a strong emphasis on sustainability. Birla Cellulose fibres can be traced to responsibly sourced forests that are managed with environmentally friendly processes. The company’s forestry practices are designed to protect biodiversity and ensure that endangered species and high conservation value (HCV) zones are left undisturbed.
In the textile industry where the origins are often obscured, Birla Cellulose has pioneered a revolutionary breakthrough: introducing GreenTrack™, a blockchain-based platform that enables real-time, end-to-end traceability of every fibre.
Every step of the journey—from forest to fibre to fabric—is recorded and made visible. Through a simple scan of a code, brands and consumers alike can trace the exact origin and path their fibres have travelled in their bedsheets, curtains, or bath towels. Not merely a tool for traceability, GreenTrack™ is a bold declaration of transparency, trust, and accountability.
By combining thoughtful sourcing with digital transparency, Liva Home makes homes comfortable and eco-conscious.
